Course Description: This course provides a broad introduction to the requisite steps, strategic considerations and essential elements involved in planning, implementing and evaluating marketing tactics and campaigns.
Objectives of the Course:
1) Provide a comprehensive delineation of the key marketing terms, concepts and decision paradigms.
2) Create an appreciation for the present role and evolving scope of marketing-- in all organizations & in a global economy.

o Marketing Research & Market Segmentation
o Consumer Behavior
o Product & Market Development
o Customer Relationship Management
o Pricing, Promotion & Distribution
o Service, International & Internet Marketing
Format of the Course: The course consists of a series of lectures and selected Video/DVD presentations-- that illustrate the concepts delineated in lecture.. The PowerPoint slides for all lectures are available online and in the College Computer-Lab within the public data file--“Loki” under BA343- Principles of Marketing.
Grading
Scheme::
Exams @45% each= 90% of final grade: Exams consist of multiple-choice and short essay questions. The exams will draw on assigned readings, class lectures, online & in-class videos, discussions and other material presented in class or provided to you through e-mail.
Research Report @ 10% of final grade: Select a local merchant/ retailer/ business/ and evaluate their marketing strategy-- product / service attributes, distribution, pricing & promotional strategy. Prepare a brief (3-5 page) report outlining your evaluation and recommendations.
